Endodontics

Endodontics>

Endodontics is another branch of dentistry that helps you with issues concerning your tooth root and pulp. All dentists are knowledgeable of this, however, there are complex issues that only endodontists could diagnose and treat. These treatments include the following:

Root canal treatment

A root canal is a common dental procedure in treating dental pain. This treatment is necessary when a tooth pulp, the one found inside your tooth, is infected. Our Oshawa dentist explains that tooth disease is usually caused by dental trauma. Furthermore, the diseased pulp should be removed to restore the health of the tooth.

Retreatment

Sometimes, a root canal may fail to heal or doesn’t fully get rid of the cause of the infection. When this happens, complications may arise and the patient may need in what endodontics refers to as retreatment. It is similar to root canal therapy with necessary extra steps to ensure that the disease no longer recurs.

Apicoectomy

In some cases, your Oshawa dentists may suggest for a more serious procedure in treating dental pain. There are diseases that are hard to detect especially if it develops at the bottom part of the bony area of the tooth root. That won’t be easy to reach if the gum tissue surrounding that root isn’t accessed. Although it’s a bit complex than the other treatment, it’s a safe and effective method.

Internal bleaching

Teeth whitening is a popular cosmetic solution to teeth discoloration. However, if the teeth stain is intrinsic or internal, this may be covered in the scope of endodontics. Internal bleaching will need the teeth to be healthy and is fully-healed from root canal therapy. Otherwise, it’s going to leak and risk the tooth’s soft tissues and pulp.

Differential diagnosis of orofacial pain

Facial pain after a root canal therapy is usually associated with the teeth although it’s not always the right prognosis. That’s why our Oshawa dentists are here to ensure that you will receive a thorough assessment and proper treatment.
